Rec 1

Rec 1 | 1st-2nd Grade

The Loudoun Soccer Recreation program provides the opportunity for boys and girls to develop basic soccer skills and teamwork in a stress-free and fun environment. It is divided into two subprograms: Rec 1 (1st-2nd grade) and Rec 2 (3rd-6th grade). Teams are typically organized by gender and grade (1st grade boys, 1st grade girls, 2nd grade boys, 2nd grade girls, etc.) and by town of play (Leesburg, Ashburn, South Riding, Purcellville, etc.).

Teams practice once per week, generally held at a community school or park, and play their games on Saturday (eight games in Fall, seven in Spring). Game locations may require additional travel within the county, depending on the number of teams formed in each town of play (e.g. Sterling teams may play games in Ashburn).

FALL 2019 INFORMATION

  • Once per week team training (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) and games on Saturdays (8 in the Fall, 7 in the Spring)

  • Supplemental training on Fridays is available for 1st Graders born in 2013 via 7U Pre-Academy
  • Supplemental training on Mondays is available for all players via Junior Development Program

Loudoun Soccer is a long-time advocate of small-sided games, which promote player development in the younger age groups; these formats help pave for a smooth transition and a developmentally appropriate progression for skill development and tactical concepts.

Recently US Soccer launched its Player Development Initiatives for small-sided games, and the Loudoun Soccer recreational program is currently compatible with most of these recommendations, as some modifications were identified and implemented that best suit the needs of Loudoun Soccer and its players.

K-2 Junior Development Program (JDP)

Loudoun Soccer is pleased to announce the launch of its Junior Development Program (JDP) for Fall 2019. JDP is a supplemental program for recreation players in the following grades:

  • Kindergarten
  • 1st Grade
  • 2nd Grade

The program meets on Mondays during the Fall and Spring season, as a supplement to a child's once-per-week team training session on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

It is designed to teach and improve a child's creativity and comfort level with the ball. Training sessions are organized by gender, and all sessions are led by professional youth soccer coaches.

Sessions are offered in all six Towns of Play: Ashburn, Brambleton, Leesburg, Purcellville, South Riding, and Sterling.

Players are expected to arrive 10 minutes before each session. Volunteer Recreational coaches are encouraged to attend to observe the skills and activities to use with their own teams.

Cost per player: $95 for five training sessions. Space is limited, so families are encouraged to register their child as soon as possible.

For more details, visit our JDP page.
