About Challenge 1

The Loudoun Soccer Rec Challenge 1 program is available to 3rd and 4th grade players who are more experienced and are more seriously focused on soccer, and for players (and parents) who are willing to make a stronger commitment to prioritizing development above the social aspects of youth soccer. The primary differences between the Recreation and Challenge divisions are the level of play and the distances to travel for away games. Coaches for Challenge teams are volunteers.

Challenge is NOT for new or inexperienced soccer players; Rec 2 is a more appropriate program.

Challenge Division Expectations:

  • Families must register before the deadline.
  • Families must choose their nearest Region/Town of Play to their home address.
  • Teams will be formed by town/region (Ashburn, Leesburg/Purcellville, South Riding) and all efforts will be made to place players on a team in their local region; if teams in the local region of play are full, a player may be placed on a team outside of their requested town of play.
  • Special requests (specific coaches, teammates, etc.) are considered but cannot be guaranteed.
  • Teams are scheduled to play inter-regional games (Ashburn vs. South Riding, etc.) Additional travel within the county may be required for games.
