Meet The Board


The Loudoun Soccer Board holds a monthly meeting generally on the first Monday of every month from 7 – 9 PM. The meeting consists of two parts; 1) an open session, and 2) the executive session. Meetings are held in the Loudoun Soccer Club Room at Loudoun Soccer Park.

Board meetings are open to Loudoun Soccer Club members. Please see this document for rules for club member input at meetings.

Mike Harris

Mike Harris began his involvement with Loudoun Soccer as a parent coach in 2006 when his son Michael and daughter Olivia joined the Mini program. His role as a parent in the Recreational program included multiple volunteer positions, from trainer assistant to Challenge and All-stars coach for both girls and boys. He transitioned the 01 Boys Allstar team to the travel program in the Spring of 2010 and continues as an assistant coach for the boys 01 Silver team which now has a professional coach. Mike holds a USSF E level coaches license and played at elite club levels and collegiately.

Since joining the board in January of 2013 as an At-Large member, Mike served as Director of Fields and Facilities in 2014 where he supported the club in the operation of LSP, establishing a working relationship with the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors on potential field opportunities and improved relationship with LCPRS. Over the last year he also assisted the club with key personnel and staff decisions and supported the effort in finalizing the purchase of the facility from Blue Ridge Sports.

Additionally, he serves on the uniform committee which changed the process to be managed directly by the club resulting in better costs for members and funds that were reinvested back in the club. He also led the effort to move to a centralized payment structure for the travel program and served on the tournament committee.

He is employed by Direct Energy as a Senior Business Development Manager and primarily works with large Commercial, Educational and Industrial customers to help manage their energy and sustainable efforts.

Mike hails from Mount Holly NJ and attended  Rancocas Valley Regional High School and Longwood University where he played collegiately. While Mike had experience playing at an elite level, his true passion is the love of the game and ensuring all members, of all skill levels have an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful game while being part of the best club Loudoun Soccer can be!  Mike and his wife Niki live in Lansdowne. 

Rob Russell

Rob has been associated with Loudoun Soccer since 2007, when he began coaching his oldest daughter’s Mini Soccer team. He coached Mini and Recreation teams for 10 seasons before his youngest daughter’s skills outgrew his coaching ability. He grew up playing the game, competing at the travel level on teams in Huntsville, Alabama and Prince William County, Virginia.

A member of the Loudoun Soccer Board since 2012, Rob currently serves as Vice President, and sits on the Field and Facilities and Communications and Marketing committees. Professionally, he leads Federal Government Strategy and Marketing efforts for Thomson Reuters’ Legal business unit. He attended the College of William and Mary, where he earned a B.A. in History and an M.B.A. in Marketing. Rob, his wife Samantha, and their two daughters live in downtown Leesburg.

Allen grew up playing Soccer and is still active today as a volunteer in several capacities at Loudoun Soccer. He has been participating with Loudoun Soccer for the past 9 years as a Rec Coach, Travel Team Manager and Assistant Coach, as well as serving on our Columbus Day Tournament Committee and Loudoun Soccer Park Advisory Committee. He has 3 kids that all play soccer which makes for very busy weekends.

Allen currently serves as the Secretary for the Loudoun Soccer Board. He also works for a large Software, Consulting, and Server company as an Executive. He as a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a M.S. degree in Software/Systems Engineering from George Mason University. He and his family live in Hamilton, Virginia and have been in Loudoun County since 1997. Allen also has a USSF Coaching license. 

 

Neal Thurman

Neal grew up playing soccer outside of Philadelphia in the 70s and 80s.  After stops in Baltimore, DC, Atlanta and Alexandria that all included multiple competitive men’s and co-ed soccer teams he and his wife Liz moved to Leesburg in 2009 and then within Loudoun to Ashburn in 2014.  Neal stays active in the game by playing on a Loudoun Soccer adult league team, managing the Premier League section of Rotoworld.com (a division of NBC Sports), and starting to teach the game to his two-year-old son Charlie who already does a solid job of kicking a size one ball in motion.

Between playing, watching, and writing about soccer, Neal has been on the founding teams of two successful start-up federal services firms – Customer Value Partners and Black Turtle Services.  With Black Turtle Services, his current endeavor, he serves as CIO and VP of Corporate Development as well as sitting on the Board of Directors.  Neal holds a BA in Psychology and Political Economy from The Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. 

John Warner

John has been involved with Loudoun Soccer for the past 14 years as a parent, coach, team manager and volunteer. His children have participated in the Recreation Program, the Travel Soccer Program and as volunteers with Top Soccer. He currently has two children participating with Loudoun Soccer.

The past two years, John has served on the Loudoun Soccer Board as the Director of Fundraising. He currently works for a software company that services the non-profit sector and has over 25 years experience as a CPA, consultant, and software executive focused on the non-profit industry. Past volunteer activities include fundraising and event planning for other large area non-profits.

John graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Accounting and has lived in Loudoun since 2000. 

Les Kaciban

Les Kaciban, a 30+ year veteran of Federal Law Enforcement and private security, leads Paragon Systems’ national team of over 7,000 security support specialists and other professionals who make up the security, logistics and law enforcement arm of Paragon’s Government services. 

Prior to joining Paragon, Kaciban served as Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI, where he was responsible for directing the FBI’s international investigative and protective programs, including managing over 2,000 special agents and linguists around the world. During his distinguished career with the FBI, Kaciban also served as the first Director of the FBI’s International Law Enforcement Academy, which has graduated over 7,000 law enforcement officers from 27 countries.

Kaciban holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Illinois Benedictine University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
