NSMI SPORTS SCIENCE

Sports Science is a discipline of sports medicine that studies how the human body works during exercise, and how sports and physical activity promote health and optimize performance. The study of sports science traditionally incorporates the following areas:

  • Exercise physiology
  • Sport psychology
  • Biomechanics
  • Biochemistry
  • Kinesiology
  • Anatomy

NSMI can help Loudoun Soccer athletes reduce risk of injury and improve performance through their sports science services:

  • Performance. Research-driven, personalized training sessions focused on preventing future musculoskeletal injuries and improving strength, balance, mobility, force acceptance, and power.
  • Regeneration. Regenerative treatments like compression therapy, assisted stretching, cupping massage, percussion massage, electrical stimulation, and cryotherapy are deployed to help increase flexibility, reduce muscle tension/spasm, and improve circulation.
  • Testing. Functional Movement Screenings, DXA body composition scans, resting metabolic rate testing, VO2max assessments, and running gait analysis provide data to set baselines and measure progress in increasing lean mass, creating nutrition plans, and assessing muscle imbalances/weaknesses.
  • Nutrition. Our nutrition coaches will give you the guidance and resources necessary to optimize your performance through nutrition and eating habits.
