Safe Return to Play Overview

As Northern Virginia continues to navigate through this global pandemic, Loudoun Soccer has and continues to implement precautions to ensure a continued safe return to play. While many of us are eager to return to play - whether continuing participation from the previous season, or now returning -- and for a return to some normalcy, the health and safety of everyone in our soccer community – players, families, coaches, referees, and staff – is paramount. Thus a common set of guidelines representing personal and organizational vigilance is necessary.

Ensuring the safety of everyone in the Loudoun Soccer community is at the forefront of our entire approach. While we recognize soccer plays an important role in the lives of our players and families and we are eager for our children to participate in sports and activities, nothing matters more than protecting the safety of our members.  As such, the following protocols represent the core of these guidelines:

1.      The safety of the LS community--players, families, coaches, referees, staff and suppliers--comes first in all planning and decision-making

2.      Precautions are designed so all participants know what is required before, during, and after each event.

3.      We are partners in this approach, and the commitment to ensure safety must be made at the micro (individual – player, parent, coach, etc.) and macro (organizational, community) levels

Loudoun Soccer's Guidelines for a Safe Return to Play, as set forth, are the product of many inputs:  the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, State and Local governments; directions from Federal, State and Local health authorities; the study of best practices as set forth by pre-eminent soccer and sports organizations around the nation; and a study of best practices of trusted medical research and resources. As the pandemic and its impact changes, so will these policies.

Each member of the Loudoun Soccer community plays an important individual role within this group commitment. Requirements may be added, removed, or amended as new information becomes available, and to best comply with the unique conditions and restrictions - whether environmental, facility-specific, or governmental guidelines.

Everyone (regardless of their role), must follow new and commonsense standard practices for health and well-being, and the prevention of disease spreading, which includes but is not limited to:

·       Avoid touching your face

·       Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or elbow when coughing or sneezing

·       Practice physical distancing when practical.

·       Wash your hands

·       Clean and disinfect clothing and high contact surfaces

·       Take appropriate steps (e.g. self-quarantining, isolation, etc.) if you are sick or a close contact is sick.

·       Wear a mask or face covering when appropriate or required.

Individuals who are considered high risk, or those who feel uncomfortable returning at this time, should STAY HOME and notify their appropriate supervisor.

Thank you for your role in allowing our children the opportunity to play soccer.
