LSP Master Plan Project

LEESBURG, VA — In alignment with its ongoing commitment to provide high-quality soccer and athletic facilities for its membership and the Loudoun County community, Loudoun Soccer has completed development of a Facilities Master Plan for Loudoun Sports Park (LSP), located on Sycolin Road in Leesburg, VA. The Master Plan calls for significant improvement and expansion of the existing facility to eventually include construction of an indoor sports and physical training complex on the site. LSP is headquarters for Loudoun Soccer, and currently features two full-sized turf fields and one grass field, used for soccer training and games, cricket league games, and hosting major tournaments and events, as well as camps and clinics in a wide range of field sports.

Loudoun Soccer partnered with Kimley-Horn, one of the country’s premier design consulting firms, to develop a comprehensive Facilities Master Plan to address LSP’s operational requirements for the next 10-15 years. The Master Plan outlines a strategy to address the Club’s year-round needs and deliver a combination of new and renovated venues, enhancing the gameday experience, creating more efficient (and safer) traffic and parking flows, and integrating the training facilities within LSP in a more intentional manner.

The exhaustive study is a road map for one of the region’s most comprehensive and successful non-profit sports organizations to provide best-in-class facilities to its members, as well as facilitate expansion into other sports operations. The Facilities Master Plan identifies five priority projects:

  • New Turf Installed on Fields #1 and #2 (Phase I) (Complete)
  • Additional small-sided grass field (warm up space) (Phase II) (Complete)
  • Creation of a new park access point via CrossTrail Boulevard (Phase III) (Estimated Completion – 2019)
  • Installation of a 3rd full-size field (bermuda or turf) (Phase IV) (Fundraising Now – help us reach our goal)
  • Construction of an indoor facility to include Futsal, Basketball, Volleyball, along with speed & agility/fitness programs and rehab capability (Phase V) (Fundraising Now)

Phase I of the Master Plan will be completed in the Summer of 2017. The timing of all other phases is dependent upon achievement of fundraising objectives, in addition to securing of necessary Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approval for future phases of the Master Plan.

“This Master Plan is a clear statement of Loudoun Soccer’s development goals,” said Board of Directors President Mike Harris. “We’re excited to move forward now with the resurfacing of our turf fields, and to work with our Club membership to identify funding sources to support the realization of the full Master Plan vision.”

The creation of detailed architectural designs and planning for phases II – V will not begin until funding objectives have been identified and sufficient funds secured.

“We are thrilled to have completed this master planning study with Kimley-Horn and to share this aspirational vision for Loudoun Soccer Park,” stated Les Kaciban, Board of Directors Fields and Facilities lead. “This has been a collaborative process that engaged our staff, coaches, players and members. This plan continues our efforts to ensure LSP has additional turf facilities to serve members, as well as improves traffic flow and safety.  The plan allows the Club to expand into additional indoor sports, primarily futsal, but also enables us to offer basketball and volleyball programs for players interested in a multi-sport experience.”

Financial support for the execution of the full Master Plan will be secured through a range of public and private sources, including philanthropic donations, fundraising events such as our annual fall Gala/Casino Night and Kick-off Party, as well as sponsorships and potential government or non-profit grants.
