LEESBURG, VA (January 18, 2017) – Loudoun Soccer is hosting author and speaker John O’Sullivan to share guidance with the area’s parents and coaches on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn.

John is the author of the national bestselling book Changing the Game: The Parents Guide to Raising Happy, High-Performing Athletes and Giving Youth Sports Back to Our Kids, as well as a contributing writer for the Huffington Post, Soccer America, and NSCAA Soccer Journal.john-osullivan-pic

In early 2013 he left his position with the Portland Timbers of MLS to concentrate full time on the Changing the Game Project, his initiative to educate parents and coaches on creating a “player-first” environment that creates a more positive experience for athletes. John is a nationally recognized speaker, presenting across the country for organizations such as the TEDx Talks, National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), IMG Academy, United Soccer Leagues, and more.

“We’re beyond excited about bringing John and his significant message to Loudoun County,” said Darryl Gee, Loudoun Soccer Technical Director. “His presentations are always informative and enjoyable, and his message benefits parents with children participating in any youth sport.”

John will present two separate discussions: a parent presentation at 6 PM titled “Developing High-Performers in a ‘Player-First’ Environment” and a coach presentation at 7:45 PM titled “Leadership Secrets of the World’s Best Coaches.” Both illustrate the ways parents and coaches can help our athletes perform to their potential, while at the same time giving children ownership and enjoyment of their sports experience. Although hosted by Loudoun Soccer, the content of both presentations is applicable to all youth sports.

“I’m looking forward to meeting and working with Loudoun Soccer’s parents, coaches, and staff, and Loudoun County’s youth sports community in general, to help everyone improve our children’s youth sports experience,” said O’Sullivan.

The parent presentation is open to the public; the coach session is by invite-only. Tickets for the parent session may be purchased online through January 22 for $5 each; no-onsite ticket sales will occur. Copies of “Changing the Game” will be available for purchase that night. Attendees who already own the book are invited to bring their copy to be signed.
