Loudoun Soccer proudly announces its Coaching School of Excellence, a continuing education program for registered coaches in the Recreational (Grades 1-8 Rec, Challenge and Classic, and SFL) and Travel programs.

The program consists of a combination of interactive classroom lectures and discussions, on-field demonstrations, and other experiences. This program is designed for coaches of all levels of experience who possess the desire to improve their knowledge of the game and teaching abilities. Sessions will be led by Dan Raben (Director of Player Development), as well as members of the club’s Technical Staff.

The program is FREE to all registered coaches (those who are registered to coach in this season); however, interested candidates must apply and be selected to participate. Those selected are expected to attend every session.

The Loudoun Soccer Coaching School of Excellence begins in August 2018, and will include several subjects, such as:

  • Methods of Coaching
  • Systems of Play
  • Match Analysis
  • Organizing and Managing a Training Session
  • Practice Coaching
  • Player Identification and Evaluation

Tentative meeting dates for the Coaching School of Excellence Fall 2018 program are:

  • Monday August 27, 7:30-9 PM: Creating your Coach Philosophy and Team Culture
  • Friday September 21, 5:30-7:15 PM: Elements of a Quality Training Session
  • Sunday September 23, time TBD (on-field): Rec All Star Tryouts
  • Sunday September 30, time TBD (on-field): Rec All Star Tryouts
  • Monday October 15, 7:30-9 PM: Effective Game Day Coaching
  • Monday November 12, 7-8:30 PM: Systems of Play, and US Soccer’s Player Number System

For the Rec All Star sessions: coaches will participate in one of the two dates for approximately 3 hrs (e.g. 2-5 PM), although attendance at both sessions is encouraged.

Selected candidates will receive the following items:

  • Loudoun Soccer Coaching School of Excellence gear (polo, training top, pullover, and backpack)
  • Equipment Package (cones and vests)
  • Reimbursement of one US Soccer Grassroots coaching course via VYSA (up to $70)
  • 1-on-1 session (phone, Skype, in-person, etc.) with Tech Staff member, on topic of your choosing (tactics, formations, philosophy, etc.)
  • Opportunities to join Loudoun Soccer’s professional coaching staff when appropriate.
