Loudoun 99 Boys Red Are 2012 YMS Tournament Champions

The 99 Boys won the Elite North Bracket of the YMS Tournament, a prestigious east coast tournament located outside of Philadelphia.  The team went undefeated in group play scoring 5 goals in 3 games and allowing only 1.  The final was a match up of teams from northern Virginia pitting the Loudoun 99 Red against the CYA Cesena 99 from Chantilly.   The final was played on a synthetic field with neither team able to break down the other in regulation.  The Loudoun Red put plenty of pressure on the CYA defense in the second half but was unable to unlock them and get the game winner.  Overtime was two 5 minute periods and both teams had scoring chances.   The game ultimately was decided in penalty kicks with Loudoun making its first 2 and CYA missing its first 2.  When Loudoun missed its third kick it looked like CYA had a chance to get back in the match.  The 4th Loudoun kicker stepped up and finished his chance and when the fourth penalty taker for CYA hit the crossbar on his strike the game ended.   Congratulations to the 99 Loudoun Red Boys
