OBGC Capital Classic Champions

Loudoun's 96 Girls Red, The Pride traveled to Columbia, Maryland this Labor Day weekend 2012, to the pitch on Howard Community College.  Participating in the U17/U16 bracket, the Ladies were tested early in the tournament with the first game of the matches at 8:00am Saturday morning.  Tested early in a physical match against Arundel SA Magic Select (MD), the Pride battled early, netting two goals in the 1st half.  After the break, the offense took over and controlled the pitch, netting an additional 3 goals.  The afternoon game saw our Pride challenged in a tough defensive match against PHWM Thunder (MD) resulting after 70 minutes a tied 0-0 game.

Sunday morning the contest began with another physical match against Chantilly Youth Rumble (VA).  The Ladies took control of the match and netted two goals demonstrating precise foot skills and precision passing through the midfield resulting in a convincing 3-0 victory leading us to a final match for the championship.

Battling the nearly 95% humidity and the extremely hot conditions of a turf field, our Pride controlled the final game against LFC Avalanche (VA).  After 35 minutes, although knotted up at NIL, the Pride with speed and determination game out for the remaining time with a determined approach.  Taking advantage of their opponents missteps, behind a solid defensive front, the offensive took over scoring 2 goals to win the Capital Cup championship bringing home the Cup and medals for each!

Great weekend of soccer!!
