PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The U7 Pre-Academy is designed to provide the highest quality development program for the area’s most motivated and committed U7 soccer players.  The program offers several unique benefits:

 

• A developmentally-appropriate curriculum created and taught by licensed, professional coaches;
• Once-per-week outdoor training in the fall and spring seasons, to supplement your child’s team training;
• Low cost to participate.
• Exclusive to players that are Loudoun Soccer U7 pure age group (players must be born between 8/1/05 and 7/31/06).

 

CURRICULUM:

The curriculum -- designed by Dave Scruggs, Director of Continuing Education, and Dan Raben, Director of Player Development – features a heavy emphasis on individual ball mastery, allowing each player to become more comfortable, confident and creative with their foot skills, while nurturing their passion and enjoyment for soccer.  Activities and games will follow the best practices of US Soccer and US Youth Soccer.

 

Each week of training will feature a theme, which will build off the themes from previous weeks, including:

 

• Dribbling for possession (changes of direction, shielding)
• Dribbling for penetration (attacking moves such as scissors, Matthews, step-overs, etc.)
• First touch
• Passing
• Finishing and ball-striking

 

PROGRAM SCHEDULE:

The U7 Pre-Academy will train once per week during the Fall and Spring seasons; these Friday evening sessions are a supplement to your child’s regularly-scheduled team practices during the week and games on Saturday.

 

Fridays:

4:30-5:30 PM – U7 Girls

5:30-6:30 PM – U7 Boys

 

Spring 2013 Dates:

Start date: April 5, 2013

End date: May 17, 2013

 

Rainout date: May 31

COST:

The cost for players selected into the U7 Pre-Academy program for the Spring 2013 season is $95.  (Your player must be registered for our regular U7 recreation program in order to participate in the U7 Pre-Academy).

 

SPRING 2013 REGISTRATION FOR RETURNING PLAYERS:

Players who participated in the Fall 2012 U7 Pre-Academy are automatically eligible to participate in Spring 2013 program, but must first register in the U7 Recreation (House) program.

 

Registration for the Spring 2013 U7 Pre-Academy will open the week of January 7; the process is the same as registering for the Recreation program.  Registration deadline: Tuesday February 19, 2013.

REGISTRATION AND TRYOUTS FOR PROSPECTIVE PLAYERS:

Players who did not participate in the U7 Pre-Academy in the Fall 2012 season may tryout for the Spring 2013 season by completing the following steps:

 

Step 1: register your child in the U7 Recreation (House) Program by clicking HERE – only those players registered in U7 Recreation are eligible to tryout, and all players must be age appropriate (born between 8/1/05 and 7/31/06).

Step 2: click HERE to register for the U7 Pre-Academy Mid-Year Try out.

Tryout Registration Deadline: February 19, 2013.  The registration deadline has now passed.

Step 3: have your child attend and participate in the U7 Pre-Academy Mid-Year Try out:

 

Saturday February 23

U7 Girls: 1:30-2:30 PM

U7 Boys: 2:45-3:45 PM

Step 4: families will be contacted via email as to whether their child is selected.

 

Please note: there is limited space in the U7 Pre-Academy for Spring 2013, as many of the players who participated in the Fall 2012 season will return.

 

Your player must be registered for our regular U7 recreation program in order to participate in the U7 Pre-Academy.
