Loudoun Soccer Spring 2014 Rec GK Academy (FRIDAYS)

Loudoun Soccer is pleased to announce its Recreation Goalkeeper Academy for the Spring 2014 season. Training is held on Friday evenings on field 16 at Bolen Park:

The Goalkeeper Academy is led by John O’Hara, Loudoun Soccer Director of Coaching-Goalkeeping. John brings a wealth of experience to this role. He is the current Assistant Coach/GK Coach at George Mason University and is the Head Goalkeeper Coach for Virginia ODP - North District. In addition, John is a former NCAA All-American, as well as a former professional player in Ireland and the USA. He is recognized as one of the top goalkeeper coaches in the region and he will provide all our goalkeepers with the highest level of training. John’s staff includes former and current college players and coaches.

This program is FREE for all registered Recreation (U9-U12 Rec, U9-U12 Challenge, U13 Classic, U14-U19 SFL) players in Loudoun Soccer.

Players interested in participating in this program are encouraged to attend each week, as instruction from each week carries over and builds into the following week's session.  Attending stand-alone sessions is permitted but discouraged.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!

Recreation TTA

Recreation Technical Training Academy – Spring 2014

 

Loudoun Soccer is pleased to announce the return of its popular Recreation Technical Training Academy (RTTA).  RTTA is a supplemental program for recreation players ages u9 to u19, and is designed to teach and refine each player’s technical ability, while also teaching its tactical application within the game.

We are pleased to announce an expansion of this program for Spring 2014, and will now offer a location in South Riding, in addition to our location in Leesburg!

Training sessions are organized by age group, and all sessions are led by professional youth soccer coaches.  Players are expected to arrive 15 minutes before each session.

 

Cost per player: $95 for seven training sessions.  Families will register their child for either Leesburg or South Riding - players are only permitted to attend one location's session.  Space is limited, so families are encouraged to register their child as soon as possible.

Program Times:

5-6 PM: U9-U10 Boys & Girls - please arrive by 4:45 PM

6:15-7:15 PM: U11-U17 Boys & Girls - please arrive by 6 PM

 

What to Bring:

  • Properly inflated soccer ball (with name written on it)
  • Plenty of Water

 

What to Wear:

  • Red “Loudoun Soccer” RTTA Shirt (to be distributed at the first or second session)
  • Black shorts
  • White socks
  • Shin guards
  • Cleats/Soccer Shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing (in case it’s raining or cold)

 

Program Outline (subject to change):

Week 1 – 4/4: Dribbling (Attacking Moves)
Week 2 - 4/11: Dribbling (Changes of Direction, Shielding)
Week 3 - 4/25: Passing/Receiving/Possession (inside the foot, bending, chipped, and driving passes)

Week 4 – 5/2: Street Soccer

Week 5 – 5/9: Goal Scoring (Finishing off crosses, short/long range shooting)

Week 6 – 5/16: Defending (Individual/Small Group)

Week 7 – 5/30: World Cup Tournament

 

How to Register:

Registering is easy!  Families may register their child for RTTA when they register for the Spring 2014 season.  Click here to go to the registration page. Remember, your player MUST be a Spring registered Recreation/Challenge/Classic/SFL player in order to register for RTTA.

Families may register for RTTA after registering for the Spring 2014 season via their family account here.

Registration deadline: March 14, 2014 or until capacity is reached (whichever occurs first)

Winter Rec Goalkeeper Academy

Loudoun Soccer is pleased to announce the return of its Winter Rec Goalkeeper Academy.

This program is designed for the Loudoun Soccer player in the Recreation, Challenge, Classic or SFL program who is committed to playing goalkeeper and wishes to improve his/her abilities in the goalkeeper position.

Training is scheduled for Mondays at Loudoun Soccer Park from 5 to 6 PM in January and February; the program is eight (8) weeks.  Players will receive instruction from the top goalkeeper coaches in the area, led by John O'Hara (Director of Goalkeeping).

Refund requests for Rec Winter Goalkeeper Academy are due by Friday December 20 at 5 PM via email to bookkeeper@loudounsoccer.com.  All requests are subject to a $15 processing fee.
