Loudoun Soccer U12 boys Andy Zeitoun and John
Flynn return home from a 7 day training camp in North London over Thanksgiving
break.
Coach Maurice “Mo” Hughes and the U12 Loudoun boy’s
strong presence and solid performance in a Maryland Tournament this past fall
has led to an exciting opportunity and life experience for two Loudoun
players.
After being recruited at a tournament by English
Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur’s Academy scouts, Andy and John were invited
to attend a premier player training camp Nov 24 – Dec 2 at the Tottenham
Hotspur Youth Development Academy in North London. The program gave the
players the chance to train and study with the best youth talent in North
London and provided exposure to some of England’s legendary staff and players.
The boy’s week consisted of monitored training
sessions and meetings with the team and coaches at renowned soccer facilities.
The boys were fortunate enough to participate in a once in a life time training
session led by US International and Tottenham Hotspur Goalkeeper, Brad
Friedel.
They also had the privilege of attending two
Tottenham Hotspur matches where they were the ball boy’s at White Hart Lane,
the home field of the Hotspurs.
The Hotspurs youth development academy has 35
dedicated scouts that continuously recruit youth players to feed into Spurs
development academy.
“I’m extremely proud of the boys and tremendously
happy they were able to take part in such an elite training program. These boys
are a direct reflection of the U12 boys team and Loudoun Soccer as a club. I’m
beyond thrilled.” - Coach, Mo Hughes
Among the initial
invitees were also standout U12 Loudoun players Jeff Gates, Luis Perez, and
Mason Sergi who all earned “Man of the Match” in games throughout the
tournament.
